Death Row; Profiles of People Who Face the Ultimate Penalty, written by Xavier Waterkeyn, is an interesting book for the true crime enthusiast and everyone interested in the death penalty. Even though most the persons profiled in this book are well known figures for the avid true crime readers, Waterkeyn succeeds quite well in luring you into the stories with his appealing and pleasurable writing style.

Not only true crime readers will enjoy this book. Death Row is filled with interesting facts and information about many famous death penalty cases in history. He talks about the Baby Farmers, Andrei Chikatilo, Dr. Harvey Crippen, Gary Gilmore, John Wayne Gacy, Richard Ramirez, and much more. Waterkeyn also talks about more recent cases and executions like that of Kenneth Lee Boyd, Stanley Williams, John Muhammad and John Lee Malvo (Washington Snipers).

Waterkeyn has also profiled two less known but certainly interesting death row prisoners, Milo Rose and William Van Poyck, who share their life on death row with the readers.

All together I have enjoyed this book from page one to the end. The content is well chosen and together with the pleasurable writing style of the author makes this book a must read for everyone interesting in true crime or the death penalty.
